I like it. I like it a lot. I believe I'll be holding off on that new laptop I was about to purchase, and wait for the iPad. I had been thinking about a tablet pc, but this seems even better. My only dilemma is our local MLS doesn't work very well with Mac's, so I'm assuming it won't work well with the iPad as well. But it seems like the dream of going paperless is real close.

Great interview.

I found the Facebook comments very interesting. It's the first person with any king of real stats on how much business Facebook has contributed.

Nice to see the success there.

Mike:

Been using it for a few years now (or so it seems) for everything from sharing documents to on-line collaborative XLS forecasts (at a past job) to hosting the baseball team's schedule.

It's cool and very useful. However for any serious spreadsheet or word activities, stick with the off line Microsoft versions. Currently, there's no comparison.

Mike,

Great interview/profile. I think it's interesting that she can be successful with her paper filing system. Just goes to show you how over baked all this technology stuff is and how being smart and working hard can still get it done.

Problem is there's a lot of not so smart, lazy people trying to lean on technology for results and this won't work.

Good job Kate,

I agree Rob, Shawn's responses definitely weren't what I was expecting for my first tech profile. I guess it goes to show you the value of hard work and salesmanship, and how important it is not to think of technology as a magic bullet in real estate.

Shawn - congrats on your level of success.

Mike - I find this case interesting. Here's a young agent, but not really into the social networking all that much (no twitter, no blogs, no high powered high ranking web site).

And, he does some old school stuff like calling on FSBOs, and a lot of face to face, and is very successful.

I think that's impressive and just shows what hard work, smarts and desire can do for you.

Mike;

Good observations. I've had two clients this year exactly the same age as me. It was very easy, our tastes were very similar, experiences very similar and our communicaiton (technology) was on the same page.

The older clients want phone calls and are calling all the time.

Younger ones are texting.

I jsut adapt and recognise the prefernce and go with it.

Very detailed, I feel that facebook is a good tool. However some people do not know how to use it to their advantage. Just like in any real social environment, you can not just blast people with buy now and us me as to buy a property.

The occasional blast is ok but you will actually need to network with people and engage in subjects that are non-real estate related to gain trust and build raptor.

Thanks Rob, appreciate it. Right now I'm trying to focus more on increasing the conversion rate of leads, as opposed to generating more leads, and I'm in the middle of putting a new IDX search on my site to do that (my current one from Alamode is pretty awful).
